On Sep 24, 2026 the Senate, as revising chamber, passed the reform of the Zona Fría regime: 38 votes in favor, 8 against and 26 absent, in general and in detail verif. The bill came with first-round approval from the Chamber of Deputies. According to the Senate's press release, the reform keeps the benefit in Patagonia, Malargüe and the Puna, removes the fixed 50 % discount from the law and empowers the Executive to define its scope and terms.
